Hi Hiya
Now that the dust has settled on COP26, with so much content around the event, you may have missed some of the key decisions. So, here's a rundown.
The Glasgow Climate Pact
This agreement made at COP26 aims to reduce the worst impacts of climate change and set the global agenda for the next decade.
It's significant as it's the first deal at a COP event that outlines a transition away from coal power. It also pledges to increase money given to countries coping with the effects of climate change and to phase-out fossil fuel subsidies.
Together these changes will only limit warming by 2.4C, so part of the deal is for countries to meet next year with additional pledges to cut emissions further. You can read more here.
Other key announcements at the event included:
- End and reverse deforestation by 2030.
- Cut methane emissions by 30%, by 2030.
- 100% of new vehicles sold to be zero-emission by 2035.
There's still a lot more that needs to be done - and you can help make a difference too.
