Brrr! The cold weather has returned and with it comes the temptation to crank up the heating.
Staying warm and comfortable is really important, but thankfully it doesn't have to mean higher heating bills.
A phrase that has become popular recently is to 'heat the human not the home'. This makes a lot of sense. If you can maintain comfort whilst also turning down your heating and controlling your bills that's a win-win.

Use TRVs properly
Setting thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) to the maximum doesn't make the room heat up more quickly but may mean you over-heat the room. Save money by finding a comfortable temperature and avoid costly over-heating.

Check your loft to see if you have at least the recommended 27cm of insulation. If not, you can top up yourself or pay a professional to do it for you.
