Thank you to everyone who took part in our Turn Down and Save scheme over the summer. We were overwhelmed by your participation and engagement. We'll be in touch with details of our Winter scheme very shortly, so watch this space!
The aim of the summer scheme was to cut our collective carbon impact. Together we saved as much carbon as 140 trees absorb in a year and reduced energy consumption during the events by over 42% on average, enough to charge a typical EV over 200 times. A perfect illustration that lots of people making small changes can make a positive impact. Remember, this wasn't about using less energy, just changing the time that you used it.
In addition to the environmental benefits, we paid out £4000 in prizes to our lucky prize draw winners. This included our £2000 Carbon Hero draw, won by Karen from Lincolnshire who had this to say:
"After successfully saving money during the last Turn Down and Save we decided the summer one had to be even easier...Winning the £2000 Carbon Hero prize draw was the icing on the cake and it's already been earmarked for replacement double glazing to reduce our energy usage even more."
As well as joining in with Turn Down and Save, Karen has used Loop to monitor and manage her Phantom Load:
"Since joining Loop we've followed the advice and made a few changes to our usage. We already had a low phantom load but we took a look at what we had on or on standby that could be switched off instead, in order to reduce it further. It's certainly made us mindful of our energy usage."
